V.A. - Tropico Utopico

Highscore Publishing is happy to announce the release of "Tropico Utopico", the first edition of a compilation series which features the finest in tropical music from around the globe.

Part of what makes "Tropico Utopico" so irresistible is that the music takes available ingredients and mixes them to create a sound that feels good: carribean music like reggae and dub meets synthesized cumbia or moombathon. It is collecting sounds from the tropical shores of Colombia, Jamaica, Brazil and Mexico and trims them with a modern touch.

Volume 1 of this compilation series combines unreleased tracks and remixes of Dutch Rhythm Combo, Nickodemus, Haaksman & Haaksman, The Unlimiters as well as a handpicked selection of the fast growing Highscore back catalogue with artists like Bodea, Schoenrock or Dutch Riddim Combo.

Schoenrock - Nothin' On Me feat. Bodea

After years of absence Schoenrock returns teaming up with Tanzanian and Berlin based singer Bodea for an old school joint. Apart from minimalistic and maximalistic tendencies Nuthin' On Me is a love affair of back in the days hip hop beats, dubby delay-lines and Bodea's unique vocals. Established on a solid bassline the Original Mix generates a vibe distant from overused high energy synths and recurring vocal lines. A steady piece of Beats and Rhymes.

The following Dutch Rhythm Combo Remix twists the tune in a dancehall style - rhythmizing the message for advanced dancefloor exercise.

Belgian producer K'bonus (also one part of Boohgaloo Zoo) takes another direction: lifting Nothin' On Me to a bass heavy slow jam. Close dance disco boogie for the sophisticated connoisseur.

Besides producing such great music, Schoenrock runs one of the best mastering studios around: Studio Schoenrock

Bodea "Tell Me EP"

Highscore Publishing is happy to announce the release of the Tell Me EP by Bodea! Even in his young years, Bodea has seen a lot. Being born and raised at the tropical shores of Zanzibar the “Island Boy” embraced the beauty of a simple and natural lifestyle in the very first place.

Leaving the mangos and coconuts behind he started his boyhood world tour at the age of five: from Yemen and Islamabad to Beijing, Germany and Zanzibar. In Zanzibar he recorded various albums including several number one hits in Tanzania. Back in Germany he began working on new songs. After performing with the likes of Patrice, Fetsum, The Daimons and many others he’s now releasing his Tell Me EP.

With his style between Soul, Reggae, Tropical and Dancehall the charming island boy has a bright future to come!

The Unlimiters "In Club"

This is the second pick of The Unlimiters remix series. “In Dub” which was released earlier this year is now followed by “The Unlimiters In Club”, a remix EP where Rocksteady meets Cumbia. The song “Hard Times” was remixed by Hamburg based So Shifty. They put the song in a danceable cumbia shape, layered a heavy moombathon beat beneath and added an excellent synth bassline. With this remix So Shifty created a tropical masterpiece adding their unique musical fingerprint by keeping the mood of the original song.

The second remix comes from Erick Rincon, an 18 year old producer out of the tribal guarachero music scene from Monterrey, Mexico. His 3Ball remix of “Let It Go” is blending colombian guacharacas elements and cumbia basslines with the skank rhythms by The Unlimiters and the beautiful voices of lead singers Nathan and Erika. Have a listen how Erick chopped up the saxophone and merged it with a mad synth melody.

Sao Paolo based dub legend Victor Rice dubbed “35H”: a fantastic remix where Surf meets Dub. Or Harzkrafthof and Dubble Dubble with their excellent spaced out dub versions. And last but not least the excellent remix of INFRA, this upcoming producer from Berlin put “Loophole” in a futuristic Dubstep shape.

These five remixes “In Dub” are followed by The Unlimiters “In Club”, remixes, soon to be released on Highscore.
